ok, a project update [Sep. 1st, 2005|10:11 am]
i realize it seems like i never finish anything and im working on a million things at once. actually, thats true. my unfortunate working style is to have piles and piles of things and work a little here work a little there until one of them is finished and then i reevaluate the rest and decide whether to continue on them, start a new project to add to the fun and the cycle continues......

quilts for hurricane katrina victims [Sep. 1st, 2005|10:26 am]
the following was posted to quilt art newsgroup - baby quilts are quick n easy.

"The American Quilter's Society will act as a repository for quilts to be
donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. This will be a long-term
commitment. We will receive quilts into our warehouse and pack them to be
shipped on to the disaster areas, when and where requested by the aid
groups. Our Paducah, Kentucky location is the perfect launch point for the
aid. We are asking for completed bed quilts and baby quilts only. Do not
send quilting supplies, wallhangings, or unfinished quilts."

questions [Sep. 1st, 2005|05:00 pm]
"Where the hell is the water for these people? Why can’t sandwiches be
dropped to those people who are in that Superdome down there? I mean,
what is going -- this is Thursday. This storm happened five days ago.
It’s a disgrace, and don’t think the world isn’t watching. This is the
government the taxpayers are paying for, and it’s fallen right flat on
its face, as far as I can see, in the way it’s handled this thing."

this was actually Jack Cafferty on CNN today. read the rest of it. i know people dont want to bring politics into the situation yet, but its getting more and more apparent that things are just not happening.

im a little freaked out about how vulnerable this first world country is - we have something called the dept of homeland security and what because this isnt a terrorist attack the feds arent running to the scene? or is it that this is the response we are to expect - no matter that the infrastructure just isnt there for rescue support (which is the reason why the international director of the red cross gave for that there are still so many folks starving to death in new orleans) but dont they plan these disaster scenarios EXPECTING that the infrastructure will FAIL??

i stopped watching the news finally - i cant take anymore. ive been listening to bilie holiday and trying to hatch mad money making schemes to both pay my rent and donate to the red cross. i wish my knee was good enough to volunteer to train to go in with the red cross.

im thinking maybe a bake sale.
